How To Make Herbal Latte For A Perfect Digestion

The recipe for this drink might remind some people of witch’s potions. Skeptics should not jump to conclusions: there are more benefits and taste than you might think.

Some people become chefs not because they’ve dreamt of it since childhood but because of (or in spite of) their circumstances. Lisanna Wallance, for example, has had a long career in fashion: she interned at Vogue, planned to live between New York and Paris, and built a dizzying career in glossy.

Six years ago, Wallancewas diagnosed with a congenital hereditary disease, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Plans and dreams had to change. Eager to help herself, Lisanna began researching the health benefits of herbs, mushrooms and plants. This launched a career as a chef and nutritionist – Wallance now knows all about beneficial teas and potions. She has distilled her knowledge of medicine and cooking into a book with an intriguing title: Witch in the Kitchen. Magical Recipes for Health, Energy and Beauty”.

In an interview with Clean Eating, Lisanna explains one of her recipes: a herbal latte which works like a Swiss watch. Gastrointestinal disorders are quite a common problem all over the world. It’s most often rooted in the way we eat: few people can boast a perfectly calibrated diet.

The drink, which, by Wallance’s own admission, looks more like a potion, combines several herbal ingredients. Together, they create a medicinal tincture which is equally at home before and after meals.

What you need to prepare a latte for perfect digestion:

  • 150 ml of plant or goat milk (you can also have oat milk, almond milk or hemp milk).
  • 3-5 cardamom pods
  • 0.5 tsp. dill seeds
  • 5 grated fresh ginger
  • 3 cloves of badjan
  • pinch of ground cumin
  • small licorice root (or 3 more bay leaves)

The recipe is as simple as possible. The first step is to mix all the ingredients in a saucepan and then bring it to a gentle boil. Reheat for another 15 minutes, then strain the drink. A latte should preferably be drunk in the morning – whether it’s before or after a meal. Wallace also recommends adding a pinch of pepper to help absorb the nutrients.
